The Mediation Service is a charity that helps resolve conflict in our East Kent communities.  We are currently looking to recruit a number of voluntary positions, each offering training to Level 3 OCN standard.

Volunteer positions offer excellent opportunities to compliment your existing skills with training and practical opportunities.  Volunteer positions are suitable for those that still wish to contribute to society or can simply remedy any gaps in your current CV.  For those that do not wish to undertake regular volunteering, we have a number of dedicated tasks, such as report compilation, finance and accounts management, document management, or event organisation which may better satisfy your requirements.  All opportunities are based in Whitstable.

BOARD MEMBERS - Volunteer board members required to work alongside the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman in the delivery of mediation services across East Kent.  You will provide input into a range of tasks associated with the delivery and running of the service.  Some previous experience and an interest in mediation and restorative justice is desirable.  Based in Whitstable.

MEDIATORS - Volunteers Mediators required to undertake a variety of cases involving neighbour, family and victim offender dispute and conflicts.  No experience necessary, as full training will be provided.  A willingness to work in often challenging situations with a non-judgemental approach is required. Based across East Kent.

For an application form for all positions please contact Wendy Freshman or Emma King on 01227 773 512 or help@themediationservice.co.uk

Our next mediator and caseminder training course starts January 2011 at either Thanet or Canterbury campus of Christ Church University.  To register your interest to train please contact us.

All staff and volunteers are subject to enhanced CRB disclosures and the Certificate in Mediation is mandatory.  There is a registration fee of £62.50 for the Open College Network, but a small bursary may be provided if this proves difficult.
